Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the awareness that is cultivated by paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, with curiosity, rather than judgement. Mindfulness mediation is practiced to increase mindfulness even when you are not meditating.

School-wide Professional Development

An introduction to the foundational principles and practices of mindfulness. Administrators and staff will walk away with an understanding of the benefits of mindfulness in schools, and have specific tools they can use for their own self-care.

Mindfulness for Youth

Research has found that having a sense of mindfulness, or the ability to be present and respond rather than react, can provide children with the skills they need to better understand their feelings, pay more attention and make wiser decisions. Mindfulness is a wonderful way to help children manage their emotions, reduce stress, improve academic and extracurricular performance, learn relationship skills, and even develop greater self-compassion and empathy.

We work with schools in classrooms or other structured groups, such as with at risk youth, girl scouts, boy scouts, and sports teams, from little league to elite athletes. Teacher training, as well as parent informational nights provide a well-rounded approach to support and sustain the social emotional skills the children learn through mindfulness.

Mindfulness, Meditation and Neuroscience for Children

Developing mindfulness, and a regulated nervous system, begins when children are in-utero. I work with pregnant women, children, and families to help them develop meditation and mindfulness practices, based on neuroscience and fun interactive play. Since each child and family are different, I co-create these experiences with the families to meet individual needs and desires.

Mindfulness is essential in education. It is neurophysiological impossibility to learn under stress. I work with schools to develop mindfulness programming that incorporates the entire school, as well as families, when possible, with an emphasis on how to sustain mindfulness as part of the curriculum.

Out reach to youth in foster homes, grief counseling, sports, community groups, extracurricular clubs, employment, and more are examples of other ways Presence to Pupils expands mindfulness to youth.

Mindfulness for Parents:
45 minutes

Discussion and practices will be provided that offer parents new skills, resulting in enhanced personal balance and better relationships with their children. As parents begin to model a more mindful lifestyle, their children will reflect the same attributes.

Mindfulness Based Stress Relief, 6-Week Workshop:
90 minute sessions

A well-defined and systematic educational approach which uses relatively intensive training in mindfulness meditation as the core of a program to teach people how to take better care of themselves and live healthier and more adaptive lives. This is a 6-week class. 45 minutes of daily practice is expected between classes, as well as some journaling.

These workshops are available as private home-based sessions, or visit our EVENTS page for upcoming public workshops.

Private or Semi-Private Mindfulness Life Coaching

Private or semi-private life coaching allows for focus on an individual’s needs or the needs of a group that share similar interests or have similar issues. These sessions mirror traditional therapy but integrate the skills of meditation and mindfulness to help you find your own unique path to mental and spiritual health.

Cultivate a balanced and powerful inner tranquility, through guided and customized meditation practice. You will discover the keys to releasing stress, anxiety, pain, grief or loss and discover peacefulness and joy. Research shows that meditation has a powerful effect on your brain, balancing your biochemistry, improving self-regulation, moods, sleep, well-being and enhancing memory and cognitive functions.

Lunch & Learn:
45 minutes to 1 hour

Similar to the Mindfulness Based Stress Relief workshop, these shorter sessions are easier to fit into the work day, yet offer a similar approach and can be provided without committing to the 6-week program.
